Terms of membership

The terms of our circle.

Last updated:

These terms are the agreement between you and Pinky Promise. They're written to be read — please do. The short version: be a real woman, be kind, keep what's shared inside Pinky Promise, and look out for each other.

About these terms

Pinky Promise is a private, members-only community for women, operated by Rytrix (Nairobi, Kenya) (“Pinky Promise”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to these Terms, our Community guidelines and our Privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you don't agree, please don't use Pinky Promise.

Who can join

  • Pinky Promise is for women aged 18 and over. Membership is reviewed by our team, and we may decline a request without giving detailed reasons.
  • Every member must be verified — through an invite from an established member who knows her, or a selfie check reviewed by a moderator — before she can see anything inside.
  • One account per person. Your account is for you alone: no shared, duplicate, business or fake accounts, and no accounts on behalf of someone else.
  • The information you give us must be true. Pretending to be someone else is a permanent ban.

Verification only confirms you're a real person who shares our values. We don't judge anyone by how she looks.

Your account

  • Keep your sign-in details private and don't let anyone else use your account — including a partner.
  • You're responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has accessed it, change your password and tell us straight away at hello@rytrix.co.ke.
  • For your first 14 days after approval you can post, comment and react; messaging, anonymous posting, creating invites and seeing event addresses unlock after that. This settling-in period helps keep everyone safe.
  • You can download your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.

Community rules

Our Community guidelines are part of these Terms. In short: be kind, keep it confidential, be real, keep each other safe and share generously. No harassment, hate, bullying, threats, doxxing, scams, sexual content involving anyone without consent, or content that breaks Kenyan law.

What's shared in Pinky Promise stays in Pinky Promise

Confidentiality is the heart of Pinky Promise

Do not screenshot, screen-record, copy, forward or otherwise share anything from Pinky Promise — posts, comments, photos, messages, member names or event details — outside the community. Breaking this rule results in a permanent ban.

Members trust each other with things they wouldn't say anywhere else. Content in sensitive circles is watermarked with the viewer's username so that leaks can be traced.

Some sharing is also a crime. Kenya's Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018 makes cyber harassment, and the wrongful distribution of obscene or intimate images, criminal offences. If someone shares intimate images of a member, we will remove them, ban the person responsible, preserve the evidence and support the member if she chooses to report it to the police.

Your content

  • You own what you post. Pinky Promise doesn't claim ownership of your posts, photos or messages.
  • So that we can run the community, you give Pinky Promise a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and process your content inside Pinky Promise, to the members who are allowed to see it — for example, resizing your photos or showing your post in a circle. We will never use your content outside Pinky Promise, in advertising, or to train AI models.
  • The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept for a limited time in backups or in a moderation report, as explained in the Privacy policy.
  • Only post what you have the right to share. Don't post photos of other people without their permission — and never photos of other people's children.

Anonymous posting

Once your account is established (14 days after approval), you can post anonymously. Other members won't see who you are. Our moderators can, so that anonymity is never used to break the rules or hurt anyone. Anonymous posts must follow the same guidelines as everything else, and we may act on your account for an anonymous post that breaks them.

Events and meetups

Members can meet in real life at events created by vetted hosts. Exact addresses are only shared with established members who RSVP, from 24 hours before the event. Unless an event says otherwise, it is organised by the host, not by Pinky Promise, and you attend at your own risk. A few ways to stay safe:

  • Meet in public places, especially the first time.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you're going and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own transport and keep your phone charged.
  • Never share your home address, ID or M-Pesa details with someone you've just met.
  • Trust your instincts — leave if anything feels off, and report it to us.

Hosts must describe events honestly, keep attendee details private and never charge hidden fees. Members who attend can earn a “Met at a Pinky Promise meetup” badge.

Invites and vouching

Established members can invite women they know personally. An invite is a vouch: it lets her skip the selfie check because you're standing behind her. Only invite women you genuinely know and trust, and never sell or publicly post invite codes. We keep a record of who invited whom. If people you invite repeatedly break the rules, we may pause your invites.

No selling, MLM or money requests

Pinky Promise is a community, not a marketplace. Don't use it for unsolicited selling, multi-level marketing, pyramid or “investment” schemes, forex or crypto pitches, loan offers, or fundraising. Never ask members for money, M-Pesa or bank details in posts or messages. Recommending a product, stylist or business you genuinely love is welcome — just say if you're paid or connected to it.

Moderation, suspension and termination

Our moderators keep Pinky Promise safe. If you break these Terms or the guidelines, we may remove content, send a reminder, restrict features, suspend your account or ban you permanently — usually step by step, but serious harm (like sharing content outside Pinky Promise, harassment, threats, scams or fake accounts) can lead straight to a ban. We'll tell you what happened and why, unless doing so would put someone at risk.

If you think we got it wrong, email hello@rytrix.co.ke and we'll take a fresh look — where possible, with someone who wasn't involved in the first decision. You can leave Pinky Promise at any time by deleting your account in Settings.

Disclaimers

  • Advice shared by members — on health, money, relationships, law or anything else — is personal experience, not professional advice. Always check with a qualified professional before making important decisions.
  • We work hard to verify members, but we can't guarantee the identity, intentions or conduct of every person you interact with. Use your judgement, especially when meeting offline.
  • Pinky Promise is provided “as is”. We aim to keep it running smoothly and securely, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by Kenyan law, Pinky Promise is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the actions of members on or off the platform. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2012.

Changes

Pinky Promise is growing, and these Terms may change. We'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll let you know in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Pinky Promise after that, you accept the updated Terms; if you don't agree, you can delete your account at any time.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. If there's a disagreement, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. If we can't, the courts of Kenya will have jurisdiction.
