Our values
- KindAssume good intent. Disagree gently. Lift each other up.
- ConfidentialWhat's shared in Pinky Promise stays in Pinky Promise. Always.
- RealBe yourself — one real account, honest posts, no fakes.
- SafeProtect each other's privacy, online and in person.
- GenerousShare what you know. Answer the question you once had.
Do's and don'ts
Please do
- Welcome new members — everyone was new once
- Share honest experiences, recommendations and wins
- Ask for advice; give advice kindly
- Use content warnings for heavy topics
- Keep identities private — yours and others'
- Report anything that feels wrong, even if you're not sure
Please don't
- Screenshot or share anything outside Pinky Promise
- Harass, bully, threaten or pile on anyone
- Post hate about ethnicity, religion, disability, body, age or orientation
- Name and shame real people
- Sell, recruit, or ask anyone for money
- Comment on other women's bodies or weight uninvited
No naming and shaming
It's okay to vent about a bad date, a difficult boss or a landlord — but describe the situation, not the person. Don't post names, photos, phone numbers, workplaces or social media handles of real people, and don't try to identify someone from another member's story.
Accusations about real, identifiable people can be defamatory under Kenyan law, even if you believe they're true, and can put you at legal risk. If someone has hurt you or is a danger to others, we'll help you find the right place to report it.
No selling, MLM or money requests
- No unsolicited selling, MLM or pyramid schemes, “investment” groups, forex or crypto pitches, or loan offers.
- Never ask a member for money, M-Pesa or bank details in DMs — and never send money to someone who asks. Report it straight away.
- Recommending a stylist, designer or small business you love is welcome. If it's your own business or you're paid to promote it, say so.
Health: experiences, not diagnoses
The Health & Body and Mums circles are full of wisdom — share what worked for you and how it felt. But don't diagnose others, recommend prescription medication or dosages, or promote “miracle” cures. Encourage each other to see a doctor, nurse or counsellor, and remember: what's right for one body isn't right for every body.
Content warnings
Some topics are heavy. Add a content warning when you post about pregnancy loss, sexual or domestic violence, self-harm or suicide, eating disorders, graphic medical details or grief. Members can then choose when they're ready to read. Graphic images of injury or violence aren't allowed, even with a warning.
Photos and privacy
- Only post photos you have the right to share, and ask before posting a picture of a friend.
- No photos of other people's children.
- Don't share your live location — post about a trip or hangout after you've left.
- No nudity or sexual content.
- Pinky Promise strips location data from your photos automatically, and sensitive circles are watermarked with each viewer's username.
Reporting and blocking
To report a post, comment, message, profile or event, open its ⋯ menu and tap Report, then choose a reason. Reports are confidential — the person is never told who reported them — and a moderator reviews every one. If someone may be at risk of self-harm, choose “Self-harm concern” and we'll reach out to her gently.
To block someone, use the same menu on her profile, post or messages. You won't see each other's posts, comments or profiles, and she can't message you. She won't be notified, and you can unblock anytime in Settings.
When rules are broken
Most of the time we start gently. The usual steps are:
- A reminder — a private note from a moderator.
- Removal — the post, comment or message is taken down.
- Suspension — a break from Pinky Promise for a set time.
- A ban — the account is closed for good.
Straight to a ban
Sharing Pinky Promise content outside the community (including screenshots), sharing intimate images, threats or targeted harassment, scams or money requests, and fake or impersonating accounts.
Think we got it wrong? Email hello@rytrix.co.ke and we'll take another look.
Invite accountability
An invite is a vouch: the woman you invite skips the selfie check because you're standing behind her. Only invite women you know personally and trust to follow these guidelines. Never post or sell invite codes. If people you invite break the rules, we may pause your invites — and we'll talk to you about it.
